Nissan Recall 2010 – Nissan Cube Plus Other Models Part of 2 Million Car Recall. Vehicle industry giant, Nissan, said on Thursday that 2.14 million of its cars would be recalled due to a faulty ignition which could cause the engine to stall and not start. March/Micra, Cube and a dozen other models are included in this recall which is the 3rd biggest for Nissan.

There are no accidents reported due to this defect. However, in the worst case scenario, the engine will stall and won’t be able to start which might cause accidents on the road.

The recalls are mostly in Japan, United States and Canada with 835,000 and 762,000 units respectively (US and Canada numbers combined). The affected vehicles were built between August 2003 and July 2006.

As big as the recall is, the fix for the defect is reported to be relatively cheap. It is estimated that the repair will take less than an hour to implement. The surprisingly large number of vehicles involved in the recall are due to cost-cutting strategies wherein the same parts of a vehicle are used in different models.
