2010 Nissan Leaf Pricing

2010 Nissan Leaf PricingThe Nissan “Leaf” and Ford “Focus EV” are expected to premiere in the United States early 2011.Nissan has an even wilder side as revealed with their “Townpod”. The Nissan Leaf and The Townpod concept car are complete opposites—conservative and not so conservative. The Nissan Leaf is the more conservative of the two. The Leaf has a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery and can travel a 100 miles on one charge. The Leaf comes with a110/120V Trickle charge cable for the onboard charging system. It has a 80kw motor and can hit speeds up to 90 mph. However this all depends on the temperature outside. In 14 degrees in order to travel 62 miles the car would have to be traveling a speed of 15 mph. At 110 degrees temperature you could travel 68 miles at a speed of 49mph. The Leaf plugs into a 110/120 volt outlet but a 220 volt is recommended at an 8 hour charge time. For those in a hurry the Leaf offers a 50 kW DC fast-charge capability with an 80% charge in less than 30 minutes.

The acceleration from 0 to 60 is around 9 seconds. The lighter the vehicle is the faster the acceleration. Compared to the DeZir the Leaf is a much heavier vehicle. It is a 5 passenger car so it is fairly roomy. Compared to the Ford Curve, its much prettier to look at. This has nothing to do with electric, but the automatic temperature control is appreciated. I don’t know why that isn’t a basic in every car already anyway. If you look at the Nissan website, www.Nissanusa.com, you’ll be able to see an array of interesting information. It’s a very informative site from the beginning to end. It explains the charging info, acceleration, driving experience, design, advocacy, environment and much more. Nissan is extremely proud of this car.

There was some concern regarding the battery cooling system, let’s hope they have revisited that. For around $26,000, after tax savings, you can have a rearview monitor, fog lamps, HomeLink transceiver system and check this out a solar panel spoiler, so you can charge the essentials without draining your battery by use of sunlight. Notice the price tag includes the after tax credits. So make sure you read the fine print. Still you get some great incentives from the government just as you would for your home. An Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit capped at $2000 for individuals and $50,000 for businesses and New Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicles credit of up to $7,500 in the US only. I have never been to into Nissans, But it looks like they took some care with this one, if they fixed the battery cooling issue they should be flying high, only time will tell.
